There are a wide variety of tires available for your diesel truck, no matter what sort of pickup you drive. The climate, the terrain you drive on, and how you drive will determine which tire is best for you. Here’s a short list of common truck tire types.
All-Terrain
All-terrain tires are a good general purpose tire. If your truck mostly stays on the road but need to be able to tackle occasional mud, sand, and snow, these tires are a great choice. They have deeper tread, but you don’t lose much in road noise and comfort. The treads are deeper than stock and they look great too.
Highway
If your truck stays on the road, highway tires provide traction and comfort. Highway tires are great for long-distance travel and general road use.
Ribbed
Ribbed tires are like highway tires, but more heavy duty. They are reinforced with thicker sidewalls, for towing and hauling applications. They are also long-lasting, making them great for trucks that make a lot of long hauls.
Off-Road
If you’re more concerned with how your truck performs off-road, these are the tires for you. They’re noisy and less comfortable on the road than the other tires on this list, but for deep mud, sand, or extreme conditions, nothing else compares. If you never know where your truck will end up next and don’t mind the extra noise, off-road tires are there when you need them.
